A scary encounter and a gold rush
Nightly scaring encounters testing WrldCraft. A little pixelated bat! Easy gold and XP.
Quests and monster fights are the latest nice additions to WrldCraft, this and the “gold rush”. Now the map will show you where there is gold or copper to dig. There resources are the same for everyone and once dug are gone forever, so… rush for gold!!
WrldCraft is is pre-order for free on both AppStore and PlayStore.
Getting ready for the Release on 14 June (delayed)
As you know the game is in pre-order on both AppStore and PlayStore.
From today on, until the 14 June (edit: some issue with the stores will delay the oficial release, sorry) all the beta releases will be focused on fixing the features and make the better user experience I can.
I want to give you a seamless experience expecially on the (geo)local multiplayer that could be tricky to use without the right UX.
If you’re a beta user keep your build updated using the PlayStore or the TestFlight.
Thank you for your support!!! I love you.
Avatars!!
Say hi to the @wrldcraft avatars! This is what you’ll find in the next upcoming #beta release. How could we name this nice guy?
In game navigation map [WIP]
[WORK IN PROGRESS]
A progress I’d like to share, the in game map. This map will be shown once you start an “outdoor” mode and helps out in finding buildings and crafted terrain nearby.
This map is essential, you know, to find stuffs in the real world, like your buildings, your friends buildings and special points of interest that will be added in the game later.
Your feedback is appreciated, let me know how do you feel with this style.
Working on the underground digging and exploration feature
A new and long awaited feature has been added to WRLDCRAFT.
Underground digging and exploration!
This tunnel was built several days ago in the same place by another player, now I went here to test the persistence and the underground walking feature.
Cool?
WRLDCRAFT -The story behind
WRLDCRAFT has a story, a long story.
Everything starts in the Xbox Live Indie Games (XBLIG) age, God bless you XBLIG, platform and market where in 2012 I made a quite successful Minecraft Like sanbox game called Miner4Ever. XBLIG market does not exist anymore but loved that game and I learned a lot about voxel engines, shading techniques and multiplayer.
It was not enough, I wanted to port it in the real world and IRL. After some attempts with marker based AR (I lost the videos of that) the true plot twist was in 2017 when I put my hands on a mobile device with Google Tango in, that is a precursor of current ARKit and ARCore and this is what I did in early 2017 (a tech show-off video, not a real game).
So digging and building in real world with persistence using Augmented Reality was totally doable. Unfortunately there were not many Tango enabled phones around, so I put the project in standby waiting for a diffuse technology letting me do a real game with all the features I dreamt.
Today ARKit and ARCore are mature enough to do what I have in mind. Persitence, cross platform, world anchored buildings, cooperative building, multiplayer experience and much more.
Two months ago I leaved my daily job as Technical Leader, resumed my old dream, worked hard, and this is how WRLDCRAFT project is born!
